Mobile Acute Care for the Elderly (MACE) Medical DirectorSan Francisco VA Health Care SystemAbout the Role:The San Francisco VA Health Care System is seeking an innovative and compassionate physician leader to serve as the Medical Director for the Mobile Acute Care for the Elderly (MACE) program. This position focuses on delivering hospital-level care to older Veterans in their home environments, supporting early discharge, reducing hospitalizations, and improving overall outcomes.Location: San FranciscoSalary: $240,000 - $335,000Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pmKey Responsibilities:Provide medical leadership and clinical oversight for the MACE programDirect and support an interdisciplinary team delivering acute care in the homeGuide program development, quality initiatives, and process improvementCollaborate with inpatient, outpatient, CLC, HBPC, and emergency teamsEnsure regulatory and VA compliance in clinical operationsApply geriatric care principles to enhance patient safety and recoveryQualifications:MD or DO degreeBoard Certified/Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine (Geriatrics preferred)Active, unrestricted U.S. medical licenseExperience with geriatrics, acute care, or home-based care preferredLeadership experience a plusWhy SFVAHCS:Competitive federal compensation and benefitsFlexible schedules and generous leaveFederal pension and Thrift Savings PlanCME reimbursement and protected timeMission-driven work improving care for older VeteransFaculty appointment opportunities with UCSF (if eligible)
