Health Communication Specialist I –
Draft health education messages and products for a variety of health promotion efforts. Coordinate with education providers, health care providers, and other public service providers. Develop or coordinate graphics and writing products. Draft or review drafts of evaluation plans to ensure projects meet the principles of sound health communication evaluation.

Additional Responsibilities:
· Conduct audience segmentation and formative research to tailor messaging to specific populations.
· Ensure messaging aligns with CDC, NIH, HHS, or other federal communication standards.
· Support crisis and risk communication efforts during public health emergencies.
· Develop communication toolkits (fact sheets, FAQs, social media content, talking points).
· Assist in behavioral change campaign development using evidence-based models (e.g., Health Belief Model, Social Cognitive Theory).
· Monitor campaign performance metrics and recommend adjustments.
· Conduct plain language reviews to ensure accessibility and health literacy compliance.
· Support stakeholder engagement and community outreach initiatives.
· Coordinate translation and culturally appropriate adaptation of materials.
· Maintain version control and document management for communication products.
Preferred Competencies:
· Knowledge of Section 508 accessibility standards.
· Familiarity with media monitoring and analytics tools.
· Experience with digital health platforms and social media strategy.
· Understanding of health equity and culturally responsive messaging.
