Senior Tax Accountant / Tax ManagerLocation: McLean, VAEmployment Type: Full-Time, HybridPosition SummaryWe are seeking a Senior Tax Accountant or Tax Manager to join a growing public accounting firm in McLean, VA. This position is heavily focused on individual income tax compliance and planning, with a particular emphasis on high-net-worth (HNW) individuals and families. The ideal candidate will have strong experience preparing and reviewing complex Form 1040 returns, providing tax planning strategies, and serving as a trusted advisor to affluent clients. Candidates should hold an active CPA license or be actively pursuing CPA certification.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and review complex federal and state Form 1040 tax returns for high-net-worth individuals, executives, business owners, and family groups.Provide proactive tax planning and consulting services related to income, investments, stock compensation, trusts, estates, and closely held businesses.Research and analyze complex tax issues and communicate recommendations to clients and firm leadership.Develop and maintain strong client relationships by serving as a trusted advisor on tax matters.Identify tax-saving opportunities and implement strategies to minimize client tax liabilities.Review work prepared by staff accountants and provide guidance, training, and mentorship.Manage multiple client engagements and ensure timely completion of tax filings and projects.Coordinate with partners and firm leadership regarding client needs, planning opportunities, and project status.Stay current on federal, state, and local tax law changes affecting high-net-worth individuals.Assist with client retention, business development, and practice growth initiatives.Qualifications & Experience RequiredBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.CPA license preferred; CPA candidates actively pursuing certification will also be considered.4+ years of public accounting tax experience required.Significant experience preparing and reviewing complex Form 1040 returns required.Experience serving high-net-worth (HNW) individuals and families strongly preferred.Knowledge of trusts, estates, pass-through entities, and individual tax planning strategies preferred.Strong technical knowledge of federal and state income tax compliance and planning.Proficiency with tax preparation and research software.Excellent communication and client relationship management skills.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.Leadership or supervisory experience is a plus for Manager-level candidates.Compensation & BenefitsCompetitive base salary plus performance bonus opportunities.Health, dental, and vision insurance.401(k) with employer match.Paid time off and holidays.Flexible hybrid work schedule.CPA support and professional development opportunities.Clear path for advancement from Senior Tax Accountant to Tax Manager and beyond.
