Employment Specialist

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work – Hours will vary and include evenings and weekends. Hours will be scheduled according to the needs of the program, up to 40 hours per week. Qualifications - Associates Degree preferred and at least one year experience working with people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. New York State valid/ acceptable Driver’s License. Work Authorization/Security Clearance – Authorized to work in the United States. Summary/Objective - Provide intensive coaching services by assisting the person we support including developing his/her Service Plan. Provide Placement Services, which include Screening and Assessment, Career Exploration, Work Readiness, Job Development, Situational Assessment and on-site training. Essential Functions – Coordinate with employers for placement opportunities.Utilize hands- on techniques to work with employees on work sites.Ensure the person we support is able to complete the job components in a satisfactory manner.Interact with the Coordinator of Career Solutions to ensure individual plans are developed and implemented to address the needs of the people we support.Participate in meetings regarding people we support as requested by Coordinator of Career Solutions.Adhere to the Career Solutions Guidelines for interacting with the employers and employees.Work with person’s employer during placement and training to ensure a smooth transition to the worksites.Attend and satisfactorily complete all required in-services. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
