Product Counsel - Banking
A leading global technology company is seeking a Product Counsel to support its Banking product team on a contract basis. This role will serve as a key legal advisor across the product lifecycle, helping to guide product development, manage regulatory risk, and support ongoing initiatives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.Details:Title: Product Counsel – Banking (Contract)Location Type: Remote (Bay Area Preferred)Hours: 40 Hours / WeekDuration: 7 Months (May 18, 2026 – December 31, 2026)Pay: $110 / hour - $120 / hourWhat You'll Do:Provide legal guidance to the Banking product and partnerships team across the full product development lifecycleAdvise on federal and state banking and money transmission regulations, including consumer protection and disclosure requirementsPartner closely with Product, Engineering, Design, Compliance, and Regulatory teams to support product development and launchesSupport relationships with bank partners, including reviewing partner-facing materials and participating in regular status callsDraft and review terms of service, cardholder agreements, product policies, disclosures, and internal legal memosCollaborate with regulatory, tax, compliance, accounting, and outside counsel stakeholdersDraft and negotiate commercial agreements impacting banking products and servicesIdentify creative, practical legal solutions to support new product features and customer experiencesWhat You'll Bring:7+ years of relevant experience across law firms, government, and/or in-house legal teamsStrong product counseling experience, ideally within fintech, payments, or financial servicesDeep understanding of banking regulations, including consumer protection and disclosure frameworksAbility to translate complex legal concepts into clear, actionable business guidanceJuris Doctor (JD) and active bar membershipPrior experience as product or regulatory counsel at a bank or fintech companyFamiliarity with payments, card network rules, and/or money transmission frameworksExperience working with OCC- and/or FDIC-regulated bank partners or within a bank partnership model
