Position PurposeThe Maintenance Student Worker supports the Facilities Department in a variety of hands-on projects, including construction, demolition, general maintenance, preventative maintenance, repairs, and office relocations. Under supervision, the student worker assists with maintaining, repairing, and improving campus buildings, equipment, and infrastructure.This role contributes to maintaining a safe, functional, and welcoming campus environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. In addition to supporting daily operations, the position provides valuable practical experience in construction and maintenance while fostering the development of technical skills, professionalism, teamwork, and adherence to safety standards.II. Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide semi-skilled labor in support of preventative maintenance, repair, reconfiguration, construction, renovation, and restoration activities across campus facilities.Assist with plumbing-related tasks, including the maintenance and repair of equipment, water and sewage lines, sinks, faucets, toilets, pipes, and drains, as well as carpentry-related work involving doors, windows, walls, floors, roofs, steps, cabinets, furniture, door hardware, and locks.Support construction and renovation projects, including new building construction, updates to existing structures, demolition activities, site preparation, and debris removal.Perform basic preventative and corrective maintenance tasks under supervision, including minor repairs and general facility upkeep.Assist with the relocation, setup, transport, and disposal of office furniture, equipment, materials, and supplies. Load, unload, and move materials and tools as required.Safely operate hand tools, power tools, machinery, and related equipment in accordance with established safety standards and departmental procedures.Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free work areas to ensure a safe and professional environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.Follow all safety guidelines, departmental procedures, and Hocking College policies while demonstrating professionalism, reliability, and a strong work ethic.Perform additional duties as assigned to support the operational needs of the Facilities Department.III. Qualifications - Education, Experience, and SkillsMust be currently enrolled as a Hocking College student for the Fall semester.Must meet federal requirements for Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).Must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.Ability to follow verbal and written instructionsDemonstrate professionalism, strong work ethic, and punctualityAbility to effectively complete assigned dutiesAdhere to all Hocking College policies and proceduresWillingness and ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting 50 pounds or more, moving materials and equipment, and standing or working on your feet for extended periods of time.Reasonable accommodations may be requested and reviewed according to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
