Sample Registration Technician

Kelly is hiring a Sample Registration Technician for one of our clients in Fresno, CA$18/hr5x8 hour days(will work one weekend day in steady state, probably sun-thur), potential for OT Temp to hireWould hire on at Laboratory Technician 1 after receiving the required state certifications. 6 month max allowed to achieve certifications.Ideal candidate: Microbiology experience, lab experience, independent, willing to learn, willing to be developed and stayMust haves: Weekend flexibility(on a set schedule, not on-call), punctuality(highly dependent on reliability of this person showing up) This is true entry level, High school diploma required, no hard college requirements, but a degree in biology(or other hard science) is a nice-to-havePosition SummaryResponsible for accurately registering samples into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).Ensures precise data entry, maintains sample integrity, and coordinates with various departments to facilitate timely sample processing.Generates reports on sample status, assists in troubleshooting registration issues, and upholds strict laboratory standards and protocols.Requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and familiarity with LIMS.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesRegister Samples: Accurately enter incoming samples into the LIMS, ensuring all relevant data fields are correctly populated.Coordinate with Departments: Work closely with various internal teams to ensure timely processing and tracking of samples.Maintain Sample Integrity: Ensure proper handling and storage of samples to maintain their integrity throughout the registration and testing lifecycle.Generate Reports: Produce regular reports regarding sample status, processing turnaround times, and any encountered discrepancies.Troubleshoot Issues: Assist in identifying and resolving issues related to sample registration and initial data entry.Adhere to Protocols: Follow established laboratory protocols and procedures to guarantee compliance with quality and safety standards.Communicate Effectively: Maintain clear and proactive communication with team members and other departments to facilitate smooth laboratory operations.Update Records: Keep accurate, up-to-date records of all registered samples and related administrative documentation.Support Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the sample registration workflow.Qualifications & Skills (BMQ)Education & ExperienceEducation: Bachelor’s degree in a scientific, business, or related field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, or related discipline), or equivalent work experience.Experience: Previous experience in a laboratory setting, preferably with sample registration, specimen processing, or high-volume data entry responsibilities.Technical & Core SkillsTechnical Proficiency: Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and basic laboratory procedures.Laboratory Competencies: Experience or familiarity with Media Prep, pH testing, and Inventory management.Attention to Detail: Strong precision and accuracy in data entry and regulatory record-keeping.Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational abilities with the capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.Communication: Effective written and verbal communication skills to collaborate across various departments.Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve initial data discrepancies or sample entry issues.Compliance: Solid understanding of standard laboratory safety regulations and protocols.Working Conditions & Other FactorsSchedule Flexibility: Flexibility to participate in meetings across various time zones outside of core working hours.Extended Hours: Ability to occasionally work extended hours as needed to adhere to strict client deliverable timelines.
