All employees are paid via direct deposit.Summary/ObjectiveThe School of Education and Social Sciences at Lees-McRae College invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor/Instructor of Criminal Justice. This is a full-time, main campus faculty position and the initial appointment year will begin January 2026. At the time of hire, the successful Assistant Professor applicant must have completed a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice or a related discipline; Masters required for Instructor applicant.The successful candidate will be required to teach in one or all of the following curriculum areas: Judicial Process, Criminal Law, Global Justice Systems, Probation & Parole, Careers in Criminal Justice, and/or other courses. The successful candidate will also teach a PEAK intensive on a rotating schedule during PEAK Intensive academic calendar schedule, which will be paid as a separate contract.Essential FunctionsTeaching:The faculty member will be required to teach 24-credit hours per per academic year in her/his discipline as assigned by the Program Coordinator. The successful candidate will provide evidence of innovative teaching and curriculum development. Teaching responsibilities include but not limited to: classroom management, student assessment, and assessment of student learning. The faculty member will teach up to an additional 6 credit hours during the PEAK Intensive academic calendar on an every- other year basis.Maintain professional standards of practice in teaching in the classroomMeet LMC standards for learning management system usage, course syllabi creation and submission, classroom management, use of technology, grade submission, and records management.AdvisingSupport student success through mentoring, tutoring, and advising. Faculty serve as advisors to students after the first year with the College.Faculty maintain regular office hours to meet with students.Scholarship and Professional DevelopmentThe faculty member is expected to continue their professional development and maintain currency in their field through seminars, classes, and scholarship.Faculty promote and support undergraduate research opportunities.ServiceFaculty members are expected to serve on committees of School, College, and Faculty Senate. Faculty are encouraged to participate in service to their community and field.Faculty attend and participate in scheduled faculty/administrative meetings.Other duties as assigned by the Dean of Education and Social SciencesPhysical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.The employee must have the ability to stand for periods of time and is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
