DescriptionDIVISION: Drain ServiceREPORTS TO: Plumber-Technician/Field SupervisorBasic FunctionA Plumber’s Helper, or Apprentice, may begin as an unskilled tradesperson responsible for assisting a Plumber with installing, inspecting and repairing pipes and plumbing systems to make sure all of a building’s, unit’s, or home’s fixtures operate correctly. The apprentice may interact with clients, so customer service and maintaining The O’Connor Way is a big part of the job. The ability to assist with keeping accurate and complete records is important.Here Are Some Duties And Responsibilities Expected Of ApprenticesArrive on time, accept plumbing assignments from Dispatch, and notify before leaving workBe proactive and communicate effectively to support plumber and client satisfactionAssist in maintenance, installation, inspection, testing, and repair of plumbing systems (residential & commercial) per O’Connor proceduresHelp ensure systems meet safety standards, codes, and inspection requirementsPerform hand-digging/excavation to access underground pipes when neededMaintain professional communication with team and coworkersStay informed on safety protocols and plumbing regulationsSupport accurate and timely job completion to minimize call-backsHelp keep detailed records of work performedAttend toolbox talks and team meetingsProvide personal transportation to job sites or common meeting pointsMaintain a valid driver’s license per O’Connor insurance guidelines (no DUI/DWI)Knowledge, Skills And AbilitiesLearn plumbing and/or drain system maintenance, service, and labor productivity techniquesLearn current field/code regulationsAbility to relate to team members of all skill levels and abilitiesPositive attitude toward plumber, relationship building and managementAttention to detailA high school diploma or GEDExcellent communication and interpersonal skills in client and co-worker relationsOperate all vehicles and equipment in a safe manner according to law and codesLearn knowledge of federal, state, local codes, and The O’Connor WayThis job description does not list all the duties of the job.
