Junior CAD/Engineering Technician (utilities)

Insight Global is looking for a Junior CAD/Engineering Technician to sit in Lutz, FL (north Tampaarea) with any interest in learning the electrical power distribution & utilities engineering industry. Prior CAD/engineering related experience is desired but not required, as training is provided! This a 4 month contract-to-hire, meaning you will be converted full time (which includes PTO, Holiday Pay, etc.) after 4 months!This is an entry level position of the Engineering Technologist staff. The purpose of this position is to apply technical skills to accurately evaluate options and design safe, cost effective and reliable design of facilities for residential, commercial, and industrial projects. Incumbents are expected to demonstrate a basic knowledge of client/customer design and workflow processes/procedures, data entry and technical skills in the client’s specific areas of expertise.Minimum Requirements:Ability to work 40 hours a week, typical daytime hours in Lutz, FL - NOT PART TIME OR HYBIRD/REMOTEValid Drivers License and reliable transportation (own vehicle preferred)1+ years of professional, intern, or education experience relating to CAD drafting, engineering, utilities, or power distribution, or GIS is desiredAutoCAD proficiency preferredComfortable with performing both in office tasks, as well as field/surveying work out in the fieldStrong computer literacyHaving an interest in learning about the power distribution & utilities design engineering industry utility terminology (transformers, kilowatts, voltages, transmission, etc.) - will be trained on industry specific terminology!
