Progress OpenEdge Developer

Position SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Progress OpenEdge Developer to support and enhance a highly customized, enterprise-scale ERP platform that powers critical business operations. This role is ideal for a developer with deep expertise in Progress OpenEdge (Progress 4GL/ABL) who enjoys working in a collaborative environment supporting complex business applications and integrations.The successful candidate will develop, maintain, and enhance custom ERP functionality while partnering with infrastructure, application, and business teams to deliver reliable, scalable solutions. Because the ERP system is internally developed and highly specialized, this position requires strong technical expertise in the Progress OpenEdge ecosystem and the ability to quickly understand complex business processes.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, test, and maintain applications using Progress OpenEdge (Progress 4GL/ABL).Enhance and support a custom-built enterprise ERP platform.Develop and maintain integrations between the ERP system and third-party applications.Write efficient, maintainable code while following development standards and best practices.Troubleshoot production issues and provide timely application support.Optimize application performance and database interactions.Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.Participate in system enhancements, upgrades, and modernization initiatives.Perform code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of development processes.Document technical designs, processes, and application changes.Required Qualifications5+ years of hands-on experience developing with Progress OpenEdge (Progress 4GL/ABL).Strong experience with Progress OpenEdge Database architecture and development.Experience supporting or developing enterprise ERP systems.Strong SQL and relational database knowledge.Experience developing integrations with external or third-party applications.Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.Strong communication skills with the ability to work across technical and business teams.Preferred QualificationsExperience working with highly customized, internally developed ERP systems.Experience modernizing legacy applications.Familiarity with REST APIs, web services, or middleware integrations.Experience working in Agile development environments.Understanding of enterprise business processes including inventory, purchasing, finance, or supply chain operations.Experience supporting mission-critical production applications.Technical SkillsRequiredProgress OpenEdgeProgress 4GL / ABLOpenEdge DatabaseSQLERP DevelopmentApplication IntegrationSource Control (Git or similar)PreferredREST APIsWeb ServicesLinuxCI/CD conceptsEnterprise Integration Platforms
