Cobol Programmer

ACCOUNTABILITIES•        Manage IT Helpdesk logs and other system support in relations to systems related issues•        Manage User Acceptance Testing and post implementation•        Assist with report/data extraction and documentation as per standards required •        Conduct feasibility studies and business/functional analysis when required•        Evaluate alternative systems solutions and make appropriate recommendations to Supervisor•        Assist in the continuous improvement of IT quality objectives and procedures•        Carry out other special projects/tasks as may be directed QUALIFICATION •        Tertiary qualification or diploma in computer-related disciplines•        Preferably with minimum 3 years relevant experience in application support •        Programming and insurance exposure is an advantage KNOWLEDGE•        Good knowledge of AS/400 Query, OS/400, AS/400 commands and COBOL/400•        Polisy/400/SMART Application Development Techniques                                                                                         •        Polisy400 Application knowledge•        Structured Analysis•        Desktop applications •        IT Security Awareness•        Project Management techniques•        Basic general insurance knowledge•        User Communications SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES•        Clear communicator and good communication skills in written & spoken•        Business focused analysis•        Good interpersonal and people management skills•        Technical aptitude and analytical skill•        Self-motivated and team player•        Proactive and committed to achieve objectives, service level and positive work attitude•        Good planning and organization skills•        Ability to work under pressure and multi-task•        Customer and service focus•        Effective trainer
