Accounting Manager
Position: Accounting ManagerLocation: New York City (Hybrid – 2 days onsite: Monday & Wednesday)Reports To: VP of FinanceOverview:A growing, fast-paced organization is seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to lead core accounting operations and provide oversight of the Accounts Payable function. This role will manage and develop a high-performing team while ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and scalable processes.You’ll play a key role in owning the month-end close, maintaining the integrity of financial data, and supporting continued organizational growth.Key Responsibilities:Lead the month-end close process, including preparation and review of journal entriesOversee general ledger activity, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAPManage, mentor, and develop accounting staffProvide oversight of Accounts Payable through the AP Manager, ensuring timely invoice and payment processingReview and approve balance sheet reconciliations; investigate and resolve variancesMaintain and improve internal controls, policies, and proceduresPartner cross-functionally to support operational and financial efficiencyOversee sales tax filings and compliance requirementsSupport audit processes and coordinate required documentationIdentify and implement process improvements for scalability and efficiencyAssist with ad hoc reporting, analysis, and special projectsRequirements:Strong expertise in accrual-based accounting, month-end close, and AP processesDeep knowledge of general ledger accounting and GAAPProven leadership experience managing and developing teamsStrong experience reviewing balance sheet reconciliations and financial dataAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentAdvanced proficiency in Excel and Google SheetsExperience with ERP systems (NetSuite strongly preferred)Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsHigh attention to detail and commitment to accuracyExcellent written and verbal communication skillsEducation & Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting10–15+ years of progressive accounting experiencePrior leadership experience requiredExperience owning or leading month-end close processesPreferred:Experience overseeing or partnering with Accounts PayableBackground in high-growth or scaling environmentsExposure to audits, internal controls, and process improvement initiativesWhat’s Offered:Competitive compensation with growth opportunitiesComprehensive health, dental, and vision coverageGenerous PTO, flex days, and sick timeFully paid parental leaveSummer Fridays and winter holiday break401(k) eligibilityCommuter benefitsEmployee support programs
