Overview The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist is an overtimeeligible, mid-level position that reports to the Document ControlManager. This position is responsible for implementing and supportingthe operations of the Environmental Health and Safety program includingits processes. This position is also responsible for promoting a safework environment for all at Charm Sciences. The pay range for thisposition is \$30.82 to \$47.45 per hour. Compensation will be determinedbased on education, experience, and other factors in accordance withApplicable Laws. Essential Functions Works With The Safety Coordinatorto ensure compliance with all relevant local, federal, and staterequirements. Works with the Safety Coordinator to ensure relevantbuilding & fire code compliance. Assists in the day-to-dayimplementation, review, and continuous improvement of the Safety Programusing quality philosophies and best practices. Performs safetyinspections and audits of facilities and departments. Maintains EH&Sdocumentation within a Quality Management System (QMS). Revises andposts EH&S Standard Operating Procedures, Permits, OSHA Postings, andlicenses. Assists in creation and update of SDS and process hazardassessments. Assists EH&S team members with tasks and projects. Assistsin maintenance and stock of safety equipment and supplies, such as firstaid, automated external defibrillator (AED), special safety glasses,etc. Assists in the storage, sorting, and disposal of hazardous waste(e.g., bulk and lab-pack chemicals and waste oils), universal waste(e.g., used batteries and lamps), non-hazardous wastes (e.g.,scintillation vial wastes), biohazard sharps. Creates and updates EH&Straining videos and courses. Participates in Charm Sciences QuarterlySafety Meetings. Collects and files EH&S records such as training anddaily laboratory cleaning check-out forms. Maintains Charm Sciences,Inc. equipment operation / procedure licenses. Assists in identifying,analyzing, and implementing actions to ensure a safe work environment.Assists in identifying, collecting, and analyzing monthly EH&S metrics.Maintains current knowledge of EH&S methods and processes byparticipating in training webinars and educational programs offered byorganizations such as OSHA and the National Safety Council. Assists inthe immediate response to workplace incidents and supportsinvestigations to identify and implement preventive measures. Knowledge, Skills &Abilities Required: Associates degree in a science or technology field.Excellent attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple tasks withcompeting priorities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Self-motivated. Strong interpersonal skills. Moderate level of EH&Sexperience. Intermediate knowledge with Microsoft Word, Excel, andOutlook. Intermediate knowledge of Prezi, PowerPoint, or similarpresentation software. Intermediate knowledge of video capturing andediting. Available to work Monday through Friday between the hours of8:30 AM and 5:30 PM with some flexibility. Must possess a validdriver\'s license for travel between three (3) local facilities.Preferred: Bachelors degree in a science or technology field. Knowledgeof GMP/GDP/GLP/ISO/Quality Assurance experience in apharmaceutical/biotech company. Knowledge of Federal, State, and Localregulations (OSHA, EPA, MRC, FDA, and Building and Fire Codes) includingbest practices. Experience with a QMS. Demonstrated ability to work bothindependently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Experience inauditing. School or work laboratory experience. Bilingual.
