This specialist teacher will work with children ages 3 and 4, introducing early concepts in science, technology, engineering, and math through hands on, play based experiences.This position focuses on curiosity, exploration, and discovery in a nurturing environment. Our classrooms are grounded in a Responsive Classroom approach, fostering strong relationships, a sense of belonging, and a positive learning environment.As a specialist teacher, this role works in partnership with Early Childhood classroom teachers to support a joyful and integrated learning experience.Reports to: Early Childhood Division Head and Assistant Head of SchoolResponsibilities• Design and lead engaging, developmentally appropriate STEM experiences• Foster curiosity, exploration, and early problem solving• Create a safe and inclusive learning environment• Collaborate with classroom teachers to align experiences• Support children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development• Participate in faculty meetings and school events as appropriateThe Ideal Candidate Will• Demonstrate creativity and joy in working with young children• Understand early childhood development and play-based learning• Value exploration, curiosity, and inquiry• Build strong relationships with students and colleagues• Be flexible, collaborative, and reflective• Demonstrate a commitment to building a community grounded in respect, inclusion, and belonging• Be open to and supportive of the Episcopal identity of the schoolQualifications• Bachelor's degree required, preferably in education or a related field• Experience working with young children preferred• Experience with hands-on, inquiry-based learning• Strong communication and collaboration skillsCompensation and BenefitsSt. John's Parish Day School offers a competitive salary aligned with Maryland guidelines.
