About the CompanyNorthwestern Mutual – San Jose is seeking a Financial Planning Associate. This role integrates comprehensive sales execution, risk product support, financial planning, and investment operations to fully support advisors in achieving production, planning, and client service goals. The Associate serves as a central partner to advisors, delivering high-quality risk, investment, and planning deliverables while ensuring operational excellence and strong collaboration with underwriting, home office, and internal teams.About the RoleThis role integrates comprehensive sales execution, risk product support, financial planning, and investment operations to fully support advisors in achieving production, planning, and client service goals.ResponsibilitiesSales Execution & Risk Support:Create plans and risk production illustrations (Life, DI, LTC)Prepare feed lists, birthday and age-change call listsSchedule medical examsPre-check, submit, and track applications with a goal of 100% reliabilityFacilitate underwriting as liaison between advisors and other departmentsMonitor DSRs and obtain outstanding requirementsInitiate eSign processes and track PDAsProcess POS requests including ISA maintenance, EFT changes, and ownership/beneficiary updatesPrepare and process policy change estimatesFinancial Planning & Investment Support:Create high-quality financial plans and investment proposalsProvide case consultations and strategic planning insightsOpen and maintain investment accounts, manage money movement, and execute tradesTrack assets and transactions with systematic reportingProcess account updates including registrations, rep code, address, and beneficiary changesEnsure accuracy and compliance of all investment paperworkAdvisor Partnership & Collaboration:Build close, supportive relationships with advisorsCollaborate with mentors, Directors, and other departments on best practicesSupport onboarding of new advisors and planning servicesParticipate meetings to remain aligned with productivity goalsCross-train across risk, investment, and planning functionsQualificationsLife & Health Insurance License (Preferred)Required SkillsStrong communication and interpersonal skillsDetail-oriented with strong organizational skillsAbility to work collaboratively in a team environmentPreferred SkillsExperience in financial planning or investment operationsFamiliarity with underwriting processesIn person job opportunity.
