Development & Special Events Intern
The Development & Special Events Intern will play a meaningful, hands-on role in supporting SFIA's fundraising, donor engagement, and community events during a pivotal season of growth. This internship offers real-world experience across grant research, donor communications, event logistics, and nonprofit operations — all in service of a mission that changes lives.This is a hybrid position. Remote work is supported for research and administrative tasks; attendance on-site is required for all events, outreach activities, and community engagements.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelopment & Grant SupportResearch grant opportunities aligned with SFIA's programs and mission prioritiesAssist with drafting grant applications, letters of inquiry, and funder reportsMaintain a grant calendar and track submission deadlines and reporting requirementsHelp organize donor records and acknowledgment correspondenceSpecial EventsSupport logistics planning for SFIA's One-Year Anniversary Event (October 17, 2026), including vendor coordination, volunteer scheduling, and supply managementAssist with Faith Feeds & Blessing Bag outreach events, including assembly, distribution, and volunteer coordination (on-site required)Help create event rundowns, checklists, and post-event reportsSupport setup, registration, and day-of operations at donor and community eventsCommunications & MarketingDraft social media content, newsletters, and event promotions to support fundraising campaignsAssist with creating materials for donor outreach and community awarenessContribute to maintaining SFIA's brand voice — faith-forward, community-centered, and authenticGeneral Nonprofit OperationsAttend weekly check-ins and contribute to team planning discussionsProvide administrative support as needed across SFIA programsDocument learnings and assist in building organizational systems and resourcesWho We're Looking ForQualificationsCurrently enrolled in or recently completed a degree in Nonprofit Management, Communications, Public Administration, Social Work, Marketing, or a related fieldGenuine passion for community service and faith-based mission workStrong written and verbal communication skillsHighly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple tasks in a remote/hybrid settingProficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive) or Microsoft OfficeComfortable working with diverse communities and in community event environmentsPreferred (Not Required)Prior experience in nonprofit fundraising, grant writing, or event coordinationFamiliarity with Canva, Mailchimp, or social media management toolsExperience volunteering with faith-based or community service organizationsWhat You'll GainHands-on experience in nonprofit development, grant writing, and special eventsA portfolio of real deliverables — grant research, event materials, communicationsMentorship from SFIA's founding leadershipThe opportunity to contribute to a growing organization at a milestone moment in its historyA letter of recommendation and professional reference upon successful completionPotential for college credit (intern is responsible for coordinating with their institution)
