CD East Marching Band Percussion Instructor

Summary The Central Dauphin School District is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Percussion Instructor for the CD East Marching Band. This position is designed for an individual who has a strong background in percussion performance and pedagogy, and who is eager to inspire and educate high school students in a dynamic marching band environment. The Percussion Instructor will play a key role in developing students' musical skills, fostering teamwork, and enhancing the overall marching band experience. Responsibilities - Develop and implement engaging percussion curriculum for the marching band that aligns with the overall program goals. - Conduct regular rehearsals for percussion sections, ensuring students develop technical skills and musicality. - Collaborate with the band director and other instructors to coordinate the percussion section's contributions to the overall marching band performance. - Provide individual and group instruction to students, focusing on technique, rhythm, and ensemble playing. - Assist in the selection and arrangement of music for the percussion section, ensuring it is appropriate for the skill level of the students. - Evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback to enhance their performance abilities. - Organize and oversee percussion sectionals and practice schedules, promoting a positive and productive learning environment. - Foster a culture of teamwork, discipline, and respect within the percussion section and the broader marching band. - Participate in performances, competitions, and other events as required, ensuring that students are well-prepared and confident. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or a related field preferred. - Proven experience in percussion performance and instruction, preferably in a marching band setting. - Strong understanding of various percussion instruments, techniques, and musical styles. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire students. - Ability to work collaboratively with other instructors, staff, and students. - Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. - Availability for evening and weekend rehearsals, performances, and events as needed. - Background check clearance as required by the Central Dauphin School District policies.
