Labor - Cooling Tower Tech II
Responsibilities
Assist the CTT1 with the installation of mechanical motors, fans, and fan shafts and alignment
Read blue prints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required, dimensions of the structure or fixture and liaise with CTT1 and Foreman for direction
Assist the CTT1 with the selection of lumber and other materials to be used on the assigned job
Assist the CTT1 with preparation and layout using rulers, tape measures, framing squares and calipers
Assist the CTT1 with markipng, cutting and assembly lines on materials using pencil, chalk, and marking gauge
Assist the CTT1 with shaping materials to prescribed measurements using saws, chisels, and grinders
Assist the CTT1 with assembling cut and shaped materials
Assist the CTT1 with piping
Assist the CTT1 with the erection of framework
Assist the CTT1 with additional tasks as assigned by Superintendent, Field and Area Managers, and Foremen
Qualifications
Ability to work within precise limits and/or standards of accuracy
Ability to apply basic mathematics to solve problems
Ability to general problem solve including employee relations
Ability to select and use tools properly
Ability to read tape measures
Ability to multi-task
Ability to work well with others
Ability to work at a productive pace and follow instructions
Ability to work independently without constant supervision, and to demonstrate initiative after the completion of your tasks
Ability to listen well, follow instructions, and make sure that directives are completed
Education and Experience
High school diploma, or GED equivalent
0 – 3 years in field cooling tower construction
1 year (minimum) Cooling Tower Technician 3 in cooling tower construction
Must pass level 1 DISA background
Must pass drug & hair follicle

Certifications, Skills and Abilities
Must have a Valid Drivers License, and reliable transportation
Must be dependable and punctual
Must have steel toe boots
Knowledge and application of safety standards through OSHA training and experience (preferred, but will train)
Ability to pass Safety Council training in English
Ability to pass Confined Space training in English
Basic knowledge of construction safety guidelines (OSHA 10 preferred)
Work at heights of 60 feet
Working hours range from 40-70, no set hours. Must be flexible to work Sat or Sun, depending on project
PROJECT LENGTH: Projects last 3-6 weeks, so you’re a traveling from one plant project to another.
WORKING CONDITIONS: You are working outdoors in ALL weather conditions in the refinery, chemical and power plants, in cooling towers. Sometimes you will get wet working inside cooling towers.
JOB LOCATION: This is a road warrior job, traveling throughout the Houston area, TX and LA from plant to plant, sometimes longer.
