Database Engineer Dayton, OHAir Force Experience RequiredWe are seeking a Database Engineer to support the ESCAPE program and broader enterprise data initiatives. This role will focus on designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable, secure, and high-performing database systems that support analytics, reporting, legacy system migration, and cloud-based operational data environments.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain relational SQL databases, including SQL ServerBuild and support data pipelines and integration workflows using tools such as Azure Data Factory and DatabricksOptimize database performance through query tuning, indexing, and storage managementSupport migration of legacy USAF systems into a cloud-based operational data storeDevelop and enforce database standards, procedures, and best practicesEnsure compliance with DoD cybersecurity and data governance requirementsPartner with software engineers, data analysts, and DevOps teams to support data access and integrationImplement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategiesAutomate routine database tasks using Python or PowerShellDocument database processes and provide technical support, health checks, and operational reviewsQualifications5+ years of experience in database engineering or database administrationStrong experience with SQL and relational databases such as SQL Server, MySQL, or TeradataExperience with cloud database platforms such as Azure SQL, AWS RDS, or Google Cloud SQLStrong understanding of data modeling, normalization, and schema designExperience with data pipelines, ETL, and system migration effortsFamiliarity with Agile/Scrum environments and tools such as JiraExperience supporting Air Force or DoD programs is preferredKnowledge of DoD data security and compliance standards is a plusCertifications in database or cloud technologies are a plusDoD 8140 qualifications or related certifications such as Security+ or CSSLP are preferredEducationBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related fieldClearanceSecret clearance preferred
