Assistant or Associate Professor, Medical Laboratory Science

This position will work onsite the Grand Forks, ND campus.
Purpose of Position
The Department of Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) at the University of North Dakota (UND) School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS) is searching for a full-time faculty member (12-month appointment, Assistant or Associate rank, non-tenure Educator Scholar track) who will become a vital member of our student-centered team focused on delivering quality education and building the future laboratory workforce. The anticipated position start date is July 1, 2026.
The UND Department of MLS includes a Master's in MLS program, as well as undergraduate programs in MLS and Histotechnology that are fully accredited by NAACLS (the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences; 5600 N. River Rd, Suite 720, Rosemont, IL 60018-5119).
Salary is commensurate on experience, including level of appointment.
Duties & Responsibilities
This position is primarily responsible for teaching n UND Department of MLS programs (Master's in MLS, undergraduate MLS and Histotechnology), as well as correlating service and scholarly activity. Responsibilities include:
Develop curriculum for delivery through multiple modalities (online, face-to-face, hybrid, student laboratory).
Provide timely, fair evaluation and growth-centered feedback for student work.
Contribute to curricular and programmatic assessment in accordance with goals and standards of UND and NAACLS.
Advise and mentor students.
Demonstrate active and collaborative participation in departmental initiatives such as accreditation, outreach, meetings, and student support.
Actively engage in professional development, as well as service and scholarly activity that aligns with the mission of the department and University.
Additional responsibilities, such as leadership or coordination of departmental areas, may be assigned based on experience, need, and/or specific interest. - (Essential)

Minimum Requirements
Master's degree in MLS or other related area
2 years of experience teaching and/or training students/employees
3 years of experience in the field of MLS
ASCP or AMT certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or equivalent (CLS, MT)
Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications
An earned doctorate, or progress toward a doctoral degree
Experience with course/curriculum development
Experience with Blackboard Learning Management System and other educational technology/software systems
Student advising experience
Experience in Histotechnology (HT or HTL)
Experience with NAACLS accreditation standards/processes
Record of scholarly activity and service to the profession
Current ASCP Credential Maintenance ('CM') at the MLS level
Eligibility for North Dakota licensure at the MLS level
