Maintenance Specialist III (Operations Ranger - Backup UPO)Under the direction of the lead ranger, this position performs complex (journey-level) building maintenance and construction work including the daily maintenance and repairs of facilities, grounds, and equipment for choke canyon state park. Serves as the back-up utility plant operator (upo) and assists in the proper operation, maintenance, and repair of the water and wastewater treatment systems. Responsible for regulatory compliance in all utility operations to include completion of required forms and reports required by the texas commission on environmental quality (tceq) and the texas parks and wildlife department (tpwd). Performs general maintenance and cleaning of water facilities. Performs all phases of maintenance, cleaning and repairs to other park facilities, equipment, grounds, and electrical and plumbing systems utilizing equipment such as hand tools, power tools, mowers, tractors, and other machinery. Responsible for preparing reports, training park personnel, revenue collection and accounting, providing visitor services, and assists in the enforcement of park rules and regulations. Available for emergency call outs as needed. Supports and complies with the agency's mission in all activities. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all agency, division and branch rules, regulations and procedures.
