Summer Music Teaching Artists and Music Directors

NEMPAC is seeking Music Directors and Instrumental Specialists for our Summer 2026 programs, supporting vocal instruction, instrumental exploration, and collaborative performance experiences. M-F 9:00a - 1:00p. Pay is $24-$28/hr depending on role responsibilities and applicant experience. PROGRAMS, DATES & ROLES Musical Theatre Workshops (Ages 5–9) July 6 – High School Musical 2 July 13 – The Little Mermaid July 20 – Finding Nemo July 27 – James and the Giant Peach August 3 – SpongeBob SquarePants Broadway Bootcamp June 24 – Theatre Magic (Ages 12–16) August 10 – Theatre Magic JR (Ages 10–14) NEW! 3-Week Musical Theatre Troupe (Ages 8–14) July 13 – July 31, 2026 High School Musical 2 Meet the Instruments (Ages 4–6) August 3, 2026 Meet the Instruments Positions: Half Day Program Director 90-minute Daily Instrument Specialists (Brass, Woodwinds, Strings, Percussion, Piano, Voice) Qualifications: Applicants must have experience in teaching music to students and/or theatrical music directing. Ability to play live shows as piano accompanist preferred. Applicants must have experience working with children, preferably in a theatrical setting. Applicants should be strong collaborators, communicators, problem-solvers and organizers. Applicants should be able to balance an inclusive educational rehearsal process and a high-quality theatrical production. Applicants should be able to remain punctual, reliable, and flexible throughout the program. Completed or ongoing pursuit of training in theatre, music, or education a plus. In 2001, five North End mothers created NEMPAC to meet a community need for children’s instrument lessons. Twenty years of unwavering community support fueled NEMPAC’s growth from a 501(c)(3) offering piano lessons out of its founders’ homes to a community music school and professional performing arts center operating from over 15 locations throughout the City of Boston. Today, NEMPAC’s community music school serves over 1,500 students per week through private and group music instruction, on-site arts programming at area schools, as well as in-house education classes.
