Senior Java Backend Developer Spring WebFlux & KuberneteLocation- Cincinnati OHC2C and W2About The RoleYou will design, build, and maintain reactive Java microservices that integrate enterprise third-party systems with internal consumers. You will own the full lifecycle of API development - from authentication flows and data transformation through deployment automation - within a Kubernetes-hosted, CI/CD-driven environment.You bring strong opinions on system design, move fast without cutting corners, and actively use AI-assisted tooling to stay ahead. You are comfortable leading technical decisions within a scrum team and mentoring engineers around you.ResponsibilitiesArchitect and own (code) reactive Spring Boot/WebFlux microservices at scale using Project Reactor (Mono/Flux)Lead design of OAuth2 token exchange flows, credential lifecycle management, and caching strategiesDefine and evolve REST API contracts with structured validation, error handling, and observabilityDrive integration patterns for enterprise third-party platforms and SSO providersAutomate repetitive engineering tasks - code generation, test scaffolding, data transformation pipelines - using AI-assisted tooling (Claude, Copilot, or similar)Set the bar for test quality and coverage; enforce standards via JaCoCo and SonarQubeOwn Docker multi-stage builds and Kubernetes deployment pipelines (GitHub Actions, Harness)Champion observability: correlation ID propagation, MDC logging, Actuator metricsMentor mid-level engineers and participate actively in code review and sprint ceremoniesRequired Skills5+ years of professional Java development; Java 17+ and Spring Boot requiredDeep experience with reactive programming: Project Reactor, non-blocking I/O, WebClientStrong understanding of OAuth2 / OpenID Connect; hands-on experience with token exchange or SSO integrationsProven REST API design skills with DTO-based transformation patterns at scaleMaven, Docker, Kubernetes - not just aware of, but comfortable owningGit-based workflow in a fast-paced CI/CD environmentDaily use of AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor, or similar) as a core part of your workflowNice To HaveExperience designing or integrating agentic systems - multi-step LLM workflows, tool use, or prompt engineering for code-adjacent tasksJFrog Artifactory or similar artifact managementCaffeine or other in-memory caching strategiesSonarQube and code quality gate configurationHarness or other deployment automation platformsAzure devops experienceEnvironmentEnterprise tech stack.
