Physical Therapist AssistantOnce a Physical Therapist has evaluated a patient and determined the course of action, the Physical Therapist Assistant often takes charge. This job requires someone who is comfortable following and giving orders. Someone with a careful eye who can modify exercises as needed and make sure the patient is doing them correctly. What You Will DoProvides physical therapy, including selection and use of assistive equipment. Reports patient progress and collaborates with evaluating therapist to implement therapy plan of care. Performs comprehensive physical therapy treatment and related follow-up services including discharge planning. Documents and submits patient reports within the established timeframe. Provides physical therapy according to standards of care defined by the state practice act and other professional and governing agencies. Collaborates with patient and other healthcare personnel or outside agencies regarding coordination of care. Trains and educates patients and family members or other support and documents understanding of treatment plan and goals. Provides services and treatments requiring physical therapy skills according to the written plan of care and the signed plan of treatment.
