Our staff works collaboratively to ensure every student demonstrates measurable academic growth while receiving the support they need to succeed.This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is student-centered, flexible, and committed to supporting learners with exceptional needs in both instructional and transportation roles.Reports To:Principal and Teacher / Bus SupervisorTerm of Employment:10 Months (School Year Calendar)Supervises:No onePerformance Evaluation:Performance will be evaluated annually by the school principal and the bus supervisor.Education / Qualifications:Associate's Degree or at least 2 years (minimum 64 semester hours) of higher educationDemonstrated computer skillsMust be eligible to obtain and maintain a school bus driver's license (CDL)Position ResponsibilitiesSelf-Contained EC Teacher Assistant Responsibilities:Assist the teacher in implementing each student's Individual Education Program (IEP) goals and objectives.Support instruction in a self-contained classroom serving students with significant academic and/or behavioral needs.Assist in planning and preparing the learning environment, including setting up centers and preparing materials.Assist students with personal care needs (feeding, toileting, etc.) and medical procedures for which properly trained.Conduct learning activities with small groups and individual students.Support implementation of behavior intervention plans and reinforce positive behavioral strategies.Guide students in developing positive relationships with peers and adults.Assist with supervision to ensure student safety at all times.Alert the teacher to special needs or concerns regarding individual students.Help develop materials and lessons aligned with instructional objectives.Correct student work under teacher supervision.Participate in discipline procedures and reinforce appropriate behavioral expectations.Serve as a key support resource for substitute teachers when the classroom teacher is absent.Maintain a neat, organized, and structured classroom environment.Maintain confidentiality regarding all student information.Follow appropriate communication channels (teacher, principal, EC Program Staff).Adhere to all school and district policies.Perform additional duties as assigned by the classroom teacher or building administrators.Bus Driver Responsibilities:Maintain required bus licensure.Accept and fulfill bus driving assignments as needed.Ensure safe and orderly transportation of students.Why Join Ayden-Grifton High School?At AGHS, we believe in supporting both our students and our staff.
