Lead Specialty Systems Technician

ArmorstackWaukesha, WIApril 9th, 2026
Lead Specialty Systems Technician Wisconsin | Full-Time | Start Immediately NOW HIRING You know the drill at most low voltage shops. You're "the lead" but you have zero authority. You pull cable, you crimp ends, you move to the next job. The system design? Someone else's problem. The programming? Not your department. This role is the opposite of that. Armorstack's CITADEL division needs someone who can assess bid documents and assist in system design, program the platform, lead the installation crew, and commission the finished product. You own the project from the blueprint to the go-live—and you run the team that builds it. If you've been looking for a role where your technical depth and leadership ability are both valued, this is it. What You'll Actually Do This is a hybrid role: part project manager, part crew lead. You'll manage integrated specialty systems, program enterprise platforms, lead 3–5 technicians in the field, and ensure every project meets Armorstack's quality standard. Manage & Program Manage multi-platform specialty systems from inception to commissioning—access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, fire alarm, and structured cabling Create technical specs, system diagrams, and network topologies that your crew builds from Program enterprise platforms (Software House, Lenel, Milestone, Genetec, Notifier, Edwards)—logic development, access matrices, alarm protocols, and UI customization Design integration points between systems using custom scripting, API configuration, and protocol translation Analyze system performance and tune for reliability—eliminate false alarms, optimize bandwidth, maximize uptime Lead the Crew Direct daily tasks for 3–5 technicians across active job sites—assign work, manage priorities, keep the schedule on track Enforce safety protocols, quality standards, and code compliance on every install Mentor junior techs—teach them the right way, not just the fast way Serve as the on-site point of contact with project managers, GCs, and clients Report project progress, material needs, and issues to management before they become problems Install, Commission & QC Install, terminate, and test fiber and copper cabling to TIA/EIA standards Install and terminate any low voltage cabling required per job specifications Mount and configure cameras, access control panels, intrusion sensors, and peripheral devices Execute full system commissioning: point-to-point verification, network performance, failover testing, integrated functionality validation Ensure all work meets NEC, NFPA, IBC standards and manufacturer specs Maintain as-built documentation, test results, and system operation manuals Client-Facing Run technical consultations—assess vulnerabilities, understand business needs, design as-built drawings Present system designs to clients, architects, and project teams Deliver training to clients and internal teams on completed systems Why This Isn't Like Your Last Job Engineer + lead in one role. You design the system AND run the crew that builds it. Full ownership, concept through go-live. Enterprise scale. Multi-site, multi-system commercial projects—not residential panels and three-camera installs. Real authority. Your crew, your job site, your standards. No micromanagement. Cyber-physical convergence. Armorstack bridges IT security and physical security—you'll work at the cutting edge. Growth path. Clear trajectory into senior project management, senior engineering, or technical leadership as CITADEL scales. Proper support. Company vehicle, certs paid, full benefits, and management that backs you up. What You Bring (Required) 5+ years of commercial/industrial low voltage system design, programming, and installation experience Advanced proficiency programming enterprise security platforms (Software House, Lenel, Milestone, Genetec, Notifier, Edwards—at least two) Demonstrated experience leading crews on job sites—real leadership, not just seniority Ability to design multi-system integrations requiring custom logic, scripting, or API work Expert knowledge of structured cabling standards (TIA/EIA-568, BICSI), networking (TCP/IP, VLANs, PoE), and system architecture Proficiency with Fluke testing equipment, cable certification, and diagnostic tools Working knowledge of NEC Article 725, NFPA 72, and relevant building codes OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification Preferred NICET Level I/II, BICSI Installer 2/Technician (we'll pay for more) Manufacturer-specific certifications in access control, video, or intrusion platforms Lift certifications (scissor lift, boom lift) Associate degree or higher in Electronics, Computer Science, or related field Experience with Contractor Foreman or similar project management tools What We Offer Salary $75,000 – $90,000 depending on experience Vehicle Company vehicle provided Benefits Health, dental, vision + 401(k) Certifications 100% paid—NICET, BICSI, OSHA, manufacturer certs, conferences Tech Company laptop and phone provided Tools Bring your own—your tools, your craft Growth Certification paths, leadership development, and a company that's scaling fast Work Environment Field-based work across client sites in Southeast Wisconsin and the greater Milwaukee metro. You'll work in mechanical rooms, above ceilings, and occasionally outdoors. Must be comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs, working at heights with proper safety equipment, and working non-standard hours during commissioning phases. Travel throughout the Midwest is required, lodging and per diem provided. About Armorstack Armorstack is a Managed Intelligence Provider headquartered in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
