Workforce Development Program Coordinator (Community-based initiatives)

DescriptionThe Workforce Development area is seeking two Workforce Development Program Coordinators to provide project/program management and coordination to several innovative, community-based workforce development initiatives. These positions will coordinate complex projects involving multiple programs and services and has responsibility for overall project results.Current Hennepin County employees who refer a candidate hired into an open competitive position may be eligible for a $500 referral bonus. Remote workers may be required to come on-site 0 to 12 days a year for work meetings, trainings, or for any other reasons that their supervisor may deem necessary (may include additional days for onboarding and new employee training). Supervisors will provide as much advance notice as practicable. Work hours are Monday through Friday, with flexible hours between 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. No weekend, overnight or holiday shifts are required. Based on business needs of this position, hires must live in or relocate to Minnesota.New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022, to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment.About These Positions TypeThese are full time , benefit earning positions.These positions are internally classified as Planning Analyst, Principal. Click here to view the job classification specification.In These Positions, You WillCoordinate and lead partnership and program design workflow across multiple service areas (i.e. Housing Stability, Department of Community Corrections, Forestry Services, Library, County Attorney’s Office, and more).Develop programming and ensure implementation, including the development and design of a competitive request for proposal process to select service providers.Develop and maintain partnerships with community providers on workforce development strategies, ensuring goals will be met.Conduct research and evaluations specific to the departments current and future needs/initiatives.Prepare and facilitate meetings, convenings, and presentations with internal and external stakeholders.Perform data analyst, planner, and process analyst functions to support pandemic relief and other special projects.Need To HaveOne of the following:Bachelor's degree or higher in any field and a minimum of two courses in research methods, analysis, statistics, project management, planning or evaluation and four years or more of relevant planning analyst experience. Bachelor's degree in one of the fields listed below and three years or more of relevant planning analyst experience. Master's degree in one of the fields listed below and two years or more of relevant planning analyst experience . Ph.D. degree in business administration, public administration, research methods, statistics, behavioral/social science, public health, computer science/MIS, management science, urban/city planning, or a field appropriate to the area of specialization.Nice To HaveExperience:With grant management, project management, and program monitoring.With employment and training services administered within the community.Preparing plans for program implementation and assisting in the development of program goals and objectives.Collecting and interpreting data and information; writing and presenting statistical and project reports and recommendations.Determining the nature and availability of funding and preparing grants and other proposals for funding.Facilitating large group processes and preparing reports for management planning.Ability to:Lead through change and ambiguity.Work independently and as part of a team.Plan, organize and prioritize high-quality work while balancing complex tasks.Demonstrate effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills; establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, business partners and the leadership team.About The DepartmentWorkforce Development is guided by our North Star to eliminate employment disparities for all residents, resulting in a community of robust economic vitality.
