Corporate Controller Job DescriptionReports To: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)Department: Finance/AccountingLocation: Sarkes Tarzian, Inc. | Bloomington, INJob SummaryThe Corporate Controller is responsible for maintaining accurate and compliant financial records across the company, in accordance with GAAP and internal policies. This role supports divisional controllers and must meet mandatory monthly, quarterly, and annual deadlines, payroll, tax reporting, and consolidated financial statement preparation. The Controller plays a key role in supporting the CFO and company leadership through detailed reporting, audits, and financial planning.Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting Operations:Maintain the general ledger and income statementsHandle month-end, quarter-end, and fiscal year-end closing processesPrepare accurate and timely monthly combined financial statementsMaintain fixed asset records and property tax reports for all divisionsConduct semi-annual on-site audits of divisionsBudgeting & ForecastingDevelop and maintain the corporate operational budgetAssist divisional controllers with budget preparationConsolidate divisional budgets into corporate projectionsProvide analysis and reporting for financial planning effortsPayroll & BenefitsOversee payroll processing, payroll taxes, and 401(k) withholdingMaintain accurate payroll records and interface with outside payroll processorsCompliance & ReportingPrepare personal property tax reports for all divisionsComplete workers’ compensation reporting annuallyPrepare reports and documentation for year-end financial reviews and auditsEnsure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policiesConfirms outside payroll processor files all Federal and State payroll tax reportsQualificationsEducation & Certifications:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required)CPA (preferred)ExperienceMinimum 3 years of experience in accountingExperience with financial statement preparation, payroll processing, journal entries, property tax reporting, and fixed asset managementBackground in television, radio, and digital advertising accounting preferredSkills & CompetenciesProficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential (required)Strong analytical, planning, and critical thinking skillsHigh attention to detail and accuracy under tight deadlinesAbility to work independently and prioritize duties and work collaboratively with DivisionsProficiency with Microsoft Office and financial accounting softwareEffective written and verbal communication skillsOversight experience and team leadership abilitiesWillingness and ability to travel for audits and professional developmentValid driver's license and insurability (required)Experience with Net Suite Software preferredSupervisory ResponsibilitiesOccasional oversight of an Administrative AssistantSupport, train, and collaborate with Divisional ControllersCoordinate with outside payroll processors and accounting firmsDecision-Making AuthorityPrioritize daily and long-term accounting dutiesPost entries to the general ledgerWork Environment & RequirementsFlexibility in schedule; must be available to meet deadlines and cover CFO responsibilities (as needed)Ability to work under deadline pressure and manage multiple responsibilitiesOccasional evening, weekend, or holiday work to meet deadlinesBenefitsHealth, Life, and Vision Insurance401K ContributionHoliday Pay…and more!If interested, please email your resume to Marcie@SarkesTarzian.com.Sarkes Tarzian, Inc is an equal-opportunity employer.
