Assistant Controller

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join our team in Raleigh, NC. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional with a strong background in commercial real estate and a passion for financial accuracy, compliance, and leadership.Position OverviewThe Assistant Controller will oversee compliance functions across multiple entities and properties, ensuring adherence to debt covenants, regulatory requirements, and financial reporting standards. This role also supports year-end close and delivers accurate, timely financial information to executive leadership, lenders, investors, and regulatory authorities.Key ResponsibilitiesMonthly:Oversee loan compliance reporting and reserve processesEnsure adherence to fee arrangements between entities and managementMaintain internal controls, policies, and debt obligationsPerform treasury functions and manage lender draw processesSupport and manage systems including Yardi and Microsoft Office toolsAnnually:Assist with budgeting for properties and management company operationsSupport investor reporting and portal managementReview work papers for accuracy and completenessPartner with external accountants on tax preparation and filingsAssist in property tax appeal processesAs Needed:Prepare property-level financial data for financing and investment salesGenerate ad-hoc reports for executive leadershipQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting required (CPA or MBA preferred)8+ years of accounting experienceStrong preference for experience in commercial real estatePublic accounting experience is a plusKnowledge of partnership taxation highly desirableSkills & ExpertiseAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office SuiteExperience with Yardi softwareStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex financial dataProven leadership ability and strong work ethicLeadershipSupervise and mentor one administrative team memberCompensation: Up to $120,000Location: Raleigh, NC (Onsite)
