About the Opportunity:The Coding Representative role involves assigning ICD-10 and CPT codes for hospital outpatient surgery and observation services. This position ensures accurate medical coding to support compliance and proper patient revenue management, contributing to the organization’s operational efficiency and regulatory adherence. The role is remote-eligible following required training.3. Responsibilities:• Review medical record documentation to assign accurate ICD-10-CM diagnosis and CPT procedure codes for hospital outpatient surgical and observation services.• Apply ICD-10 Official Coding Guidelines, regulatory requirements, and coding compliance policies.• Implement initiatives to enhance compliance and reduce institutional risk.• Meet productivity and accuracy targets set by supervisors.• Identify coding trends and suggest improvements.• Contribute to process enhancements including denial management.• Prepare work list and other reports as directed.• Communicate with providers and staff to resolve coding issues.• Assist with or provide training on documentation requirements.• Participate in internal training programs.4. Requirements:• Completion of a degree in Health Information Management or equivalent coding certification program.• Certification such as RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCA, or CPC from a recognized credentialing body; full certification required within six months of hire.• Knowledge of hospital outpatient ICD-10-CM and CPT coding, medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.• Proficiency with computer software, including Microsoft Office.• Strong written and verbal communication skills.• High attention to detail and accuracy.• Ability to work professionally with diverse individuals.Desired:• 1-3 years of experience in hospital outpatient ICD-10-CM and CPT coding.• Familiarity with CMS regulations and industry standards.• Experience with Epic and 3M or equivalent DRG encoder/analyzer software.5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:• Annual salary starting at $45,000, commensurate with experience.6.
