Seeking a Department Manager for our Fire Protection division. Job Description
The Department Manager of Fire Protection will develop and mentor project managers and designers, manage some projects, assist project managers with job cost tracking and forecasting, and coordinate with internal staff on design, shop drawings, BIM models, and field coordination drawings. The Department Manager, Fire Protection, will also help manage relationships with general contractors (GCs), owners, subcontractors, and equipment vendors.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the Fire Protection Department
Capable of managing projects, understanding codes, and estimating
Perform site visits to assess project scope and gather necessary information for accurate estimating
Work on estimates and manage workforce scheduling on a weekly basis
Mentor, review, and train project managers and designers
Assist with relationship and job site issues
Review financial reports, assist with budget preparation, and be responsible for P&L.
Visit job sites to maintain relationships with the team and ensure the company’s values are upheld.
Regularly inspect job sites for contract compliance, workmanship, and safety
Follow up to guarantee customer satisfaction
Recruit and hire department staff as needed for growth
Collaborate with multiple departments
Qualifications
Additional Skills/Qualifications:
Solid understanding of the construction process in its entirety
Proficient in Navisworks, and Revit, with an understanding of BIM.
Strong knowledge of fire alarm and sprinkler systems, as well as NFPA codes
Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards
Minimum 7 years of experience in project management of commercial construction projects for a commercial contractor
Proven record of accomplishment in managing people, projects, schedules, and tasks
Attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving abilities
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Client-focused with a sense of pride and urgency
Ambitious and adaptable to change
Ability to estimate changes in the scope of work and adjust accordingly
