Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) – Full-Time | Leadership OpportunitySyracuse, NY $110,000 – $120,000 annuallyAdvance Your Leadership Career in Long-Term Care We are seeking an experienced and motivatedAssistant Director of Nursing (ADON)to join a respected Long-Term Care and Skilled Nursing Facility in Syracuse, NY. In this high-visibility leadership role, the ADON serves as the operational backbone of the nursing department—partnering closely with the Director of Nursing (DON) to oversee daily clinical operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and uphold the highest standards of resident care. This is an excellent opportunity for a strong clinical leader ready to take the next step toward a DON-level position.Key Responsibilities Clinical Supervision Provide daily oversight and guidance to RNs, LPNs, and CNAs Ensure clinical protocols are followed and care is delivered safely and efficientlyStaff Development & Training Lead onboarding and clinical orientation for new nursing staff Conduct skills validations and facilitate ongoing in-service educationCompliance & Survey Readiness Support the DON in maintaining continuous survey readiness Perform chart audits, medication pass observations, and environmental rounds Ensure compliance with CMS and New York State Department of Health regulationsProgram Leadership Oversee key clinical initiatives such as Infection Control, Wound Care, and Restorative Nursing programsClinical Triage & Communication Serve as a resource for nursing staff on complex clinical issues Ensure timely communication with physicians and families regarding changes in resident conditionPerformance Management Assist with staff scheduling and performance evaluations Support employee relations and help resolve staff concernsQualifications Licensure Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in New YorkExperience Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a Long-Term Care (LTC) or Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) setting Prior supervisory or Charge Nurse experience required Previous ADON or Unit Manager experience preferredKnowledge & Skills Working knowledge of DOH and CMS regulations Strong clinical assessment skills, particularly with high-acuity residents Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR); familiarity with PointClickCare or SigmaCare preferredWhat We Offer Leadership Development Clear pathway to Director of Nursing (DON) with structured mentorship and leadership supportRegional Support Network Collaborate with experienced clinical leaders across multiple facilitiesStability & Recognition Join a respected healthcare organization committed to clinical excellence and employee recognition
