For approximately every three employees brought on to support the government, we hire an individual from an under-resourced, developing community and train them to enter the professional job market.Cortina is very proud of the reach-back it offers to the local community. Not only that, we LOVE our employees and do all we can to ensure they have a great work experience. Come join a company that believes in being a part of something bigger than themselves! Job DescriptionCortina Solutions, LLC is seeking an Accounting Specialist to support the development and implementation of strategies for improvement of systems and processes related to financial accounting and auditability for Department of Justice clients.Perform a variety of accounting and financial management activities in support of federal programs and initiatives.Prepare, review, and reconcile financial statements, reports, and records to ensure accuracy and compliance.Monitor and analyze financial data to identify discrepancies, trends, and opportunities for improvement.Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.Ensure compliance with federal accounting standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.Assist with audits by gathering documentation, responding to inquiries, and supporting corrective actions.Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide financial insights and support decision-making.Maintain accurate financial records and documentation in accordance with established procedures.Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy of financial operations.Utilize financial systems and tools to track, analyze, and report on financial activity.Job RequirementsBachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business ManagementThree (3) or more years of experience in Accounting, Finance, or BusinessExperience performing Federal internal audit and/or audit consulting, preferably supporting external Federal audits.CPA or other accounting certificationFamiliarity with federal audit and accounting standards (SFFAS, GAGAS, etc)Ability to review and understand technical accounting requirements and translate them to non-accounting stakeholdersAbility to work with diverse stakeholders from across the federal government to develop and document solutions for audit and accounting challengesAttention to detail, organization, proactiveness, and sense of urgencyBenefitsCortina Solutions is committed to offering comprehensive and affordable benefits to employees and their families.
