Licensed Professional Land Surveyor / Survey Project Manager

Job DescriptionPosition SummaryA leading civil engineering firm is seeking an experienced Licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to lead survey operations supporting state DOT and municipal roadway projects.This leadership role oversees both field and office teams, manages project delivery, ensures quality assurance and regulatory compliance, and builds strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders.The ideal candidate brings extensive experience managing transportation-related survey projects, directing multiple field crews, and delivering accurate survey documentation in a fast-paced engineering environment.RequirementsKey ResponsibilitiesDirect and manage two or more field survey crewsAssemble field data and perform calculations for survey deliverablesPrepare plats, boundary surveys, and legal descriptionsMaintain QA/QC compliance for all survey deliverablesManage project schedules, budgets, and invoicingServe as the primary client point of contactRepresent the organization at project meetings and industry eventsMentor survey staff and conduct performance evaluationsSupport proposal development and pursuit strategies for new survey opportunities Required QualificationsActive Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license8+ years of progressive land surveying experienceExperience with DOT, roadway, or transportation infrastructure projectsProficiency with one or more of the following:MicroStationOpenRoadsAutoCAD Civil 3DStrong knowledge of federal, state, and local surveying regulationsValid driver's licenseAbility to pass a standard 7-year background screeningMust be legally authorized to work in the United States Preferred QualificationsMultistate PLS licensureExperience with Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE)Familiarity with aerial surveying, LiDAR, or sUAS technologiesExperience working with transportation agencies or public infrastructure projects Work EnvironmentTypical work week: 45-50 hoursCombination of office leadership and field oversightCollaborative environment supporting large-scale transportation projects Career GrowthThis position offers a clear advancement path toward:Survey Project Manager → Practice Lead → Department LeadershipBenefitsOur client offers a competitive benefits package designed to support employees' health, financial security, and overall well-being.
