Payment Operations Assistant Manager

Position OverviewWe are seeking a Payment Operations Assistant Manager to support and oversee day-to-day operations in our fast-growing credit card processing ISO. This role plays a key part in ensuring efficient merchant onboarding, smooth transaction processing, compliance with industry regulations, and delivering excellent service to our partners and merchants. The AssistantManager will work closely with the Operations Manager and other teams to streamline processes, maintain quality control, business development and drive operational excellence.Key Responsibilities:Merchant Onboarding & SupportAssist in managing the merchant application and underwriting processEnsure timely and accurate setup of merchant accountsServe as a point of escalation for merchant service issuesTransaction & Operations ManagementMonitor daily credit card processing operations, including settlements, chargebacks and reconciliationsCoordinate with payment processors, sponsor banks, and vendors to resolve issues quicklyTrack and report KPIs related to transaction processing and merchant satisfaction Compliance & Risk Oversight:Assist with compliance checks (PCI, KYC, AML) to minimize riskSupport audits and ensure adherence to ISO, card brand, and regulatory standardsMaintain accurate documentation of merchant accounts and compliance recordsProcess ImprovementIdentify gaps and inefficiencies in operations; recommend solutions to streamline workflowImplement best practices to improve merchant experience and reduce operational costsSupport the development and training of junior staffTeam CollaborationAct as second-in-command to the EVP, Merchant ServicesCoordinate cross-departmental projects (sales, risk, finance, IT)Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field (preferred)5+ years of experience in merchant services, payments, or financial operationsKnowledge of ISO/MSP operations, payment gateways, and settlement processesFamiliarity with PCI DSS compliance, risk management, chargeback processes, UW, and Interchange qualificationsStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and leadership skillsProficiency in MS Office, CRM, and payment processing platformsWhat we offer:Competitive salary with performance incentivesHealth, dental, and vision benefitsOpportunities for professional growth in the payments industryA fast-paced, team-oriented environmentAbout us: IDT is a Communications and Money Transfer company founded in 1990 and headquartered in Newark, New Jersey.
