Senior Development Accountant

Position Overview Paravel Capital is seeking a Senior Development Accounting to lead accounting and financial operations across our growing portfolio of multifamily development and acquisition projects. This individual will report directly to the Founder & Managing Partner and will serve as a key internal partner across development, asset management, and investor relations. The role requires exceptional attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to operate independently in a fast-moving, high-responsibility environment. While technical accounting expertise is essential, we place equal — if not greater — importance on integrity, attitude, ownership mentality, and the ability to learn and grow with the platform. This is a long-term role with significant responsibility and visibility. Hybrid role based in Austin, TX In-office presence expected 2–3 days per week Remote/work-from-home flexibility on remaining days Reports directly to Curtis Thigpen, Founder & Managing Partner Key Responsibilities Accounting & Financial Operations Maintain accurate and detailed accounting records across all entities and projects Reconcile all investment, operating, and escrow accounts on a monthly basis Post month-end journal entries and produce monthly financial statements Manage weekly check runs and cash disbursements Oversee company credit cards and expense tracking Initiate and process payroll through ADP Prepare and submit lender draw requests for active development projects Track development budgets, sources & uses, and project-level cash flow Coordinate with lenders, third-party consultants, and internal team members on funding and reporting requirements HUD financing experience (221(d)(4), 223(f), cost certifications, escrows) is a plus, but not required Investor & Partnership Accounting Maintain investor capital tracking and portfolio detail within Juniper Square Coordinate inbound and outbound wire transfers for capital contributions and distributions Compile quarterly financial packages using reports from third-party property management companies Support investor reporting and ad-hoc financial requests Tax & External Coordination Work closely with external CPAs to support tax preparation and filings Qualifications & Experience Required 5+ years of senior-level accounting experience within multifamily real estate Direct experience with multifamily development accounting strongly preferred (Development experience is more critical than stabilized-only operations) Advanced proficiency in Excel and QuickBooks High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and take ownership of outcomes Preferred / Bonus Experience HUD-financed multifamily development experience Experience working in a lean or entrepreneurial real estate platform Familiarity with Juniper Square or similar investor reporting platforms Ideal Candidate Attributes Extremely detail-oriented and process-driven — an “accounting perfectionist” High integrity, strong values, and a deep sense of responsibility Intellectually curious and eager to learn new concepts and structures Comfortable wearing multiple hats in a small team environment Proactive, self-directed, and confident operating without heavy oversight Communicates clearly and professionally with internal and external partners Why This Role Matters This position is critical to the long-term success of Paravel Capital.
