Position: Commercial HVAC Service TechnicianLocations: Ashburn, VA and Sparks, MD Status: Non-Exempt Full-timeReports to: Service ManagerWe are looking for skilled Commercial HVAC Journeyman Service Technicians to join our growing teamalong the 1-95 Washington DC/Baltimore Corridor: Ashburn, VA and Sparks, MD (for the Sparks Glencoe location complete cooling tower/water-cooled system overhaul, rebuild, and maintenance experience is required, no exceptions).Asan HVAC Journeyman Service Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining commercial, data center, and industrial HVAC equipment at customer sites. This role requires strong technical ability, excellent customer communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced service environment.Required Experience: Servicing Centrifugal chillers - high-capacity, water-cooled HVAC systems (typically 1000-10000 kW).Note: Commercial/Industrial HVAC Service Technician experience is required for these positions. Residential service and installation technicians will not be considered.Pay Scale: $35.00/hour to $55.00/hour based on background and experienceShift: 1st shift w/potential evening and /or weekend hoursBenefits: Medical, Dental, and Vision plans Life & Disability Insurance Retirement Savings: 401(k) plan Paid Time Off: Enjoy paid holidays and a PTO plan that grows with your years of service Opportunities for Career Advancement & Professional Development Key Responsibilities:Perform preventive maintenance and service on Centrifugal chillers, commercial HVAC systems, including RTUs, AHUs, CRAC units, VAVs, heat pumps, boilers, cooling towers, and pumps.Diagnose and repair HVAC system issues, troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related faults, including leak detection, recovery, charging, and performance testing per EPA regulations.Support building automation and controls, including troubleshooting, adjustments, and interpreting mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and control schematics.Service and maintain system components, such as coils, belts, bearings, motors, filters, and related mechanical parts.Complete emergency and scheduled service calls, providing accurate documentation in company software, including parts used, diagnostics, recommendations, and labor.Communicate effectively with customers and internal teams regarding service findings and next steps, while adhering to all company safety policies and participating in the on-call rotation.Qualifications:Minimum of 4+ years of commercial HVAC service experience or completion of a recognized HVAC apprenticeship.Valid EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification.Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, controls, and refrigeration fundamentals.Experience in mission-critical environments (data centers, telecom facilities, etc.).Ability to diagnose electrical, mechanical, and refrigerant system issues without supervision.Strong communication skills and professional customer interaction.Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.Ability to lift 50+ lbs., work on ladders, rooftops, and in mechanical rooms.Frequently exposed to heat, cold, noise, cramped spaces, and heights.Ability to work in outside conditions during all seasons.Must have manual dexterity to assemble products or machines as directed.Must wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE).Have a good driving recordMust Pass Drug Test upon hiring and random testingHave own basic tools required for this field of workWhy You'll Love Working Here:Competitive pay & benefits packageHealth & Wellness: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans to keep you and your family covered, including free preventive care and affordable prescription options.Life & Disability Insurance: Company-paid life insurance and disability coverage, with options to enhance your benefits.Retirement Savings: 401(k) plan with a generous company match to help secure your future, with immediate vesting.Paid Time Off: Enjoy paid holidays and a PTO plan that grows with your years of service.Opportunities for Career Advancement & Professional Development: We provide education assistance to help you grow your skills and your career.Extra Perks: Flexible spending accounts, employee discounts, and 24/7 confidential support through our Employee Assistance Program.Wage Range: $35/hour to $55/hour Commensurate with experience.
