West Palm Beach VA Medical Center is seeking a Physician (Dermatologist) for the Vero Beach Location.QualificationsTo qualify for this position - you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements (if applicable) listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending the completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Currently employed physician(s) in VA who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation.Basic RequirementsUnited States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA PolicyDegree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicineThe degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completedCurrent - full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State - Territory - or Commonwealth of the United States - or in the District of ColumbiaResidency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training - approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification(NOTE: VA physicians involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty status.) Approved residencies are: (1) Those approved by the accrediting bodies for graduate medical education - the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) - in the list published for the year the residency - or fellowship if applicable - was completedOR (2) One year of post medical school training (internship - first year of residency - or transitional year residency) approved by ACGME or AOA followed by two years of post-training independent practice (performing under a full and unrestricted license) in the United StatesOR (3) Non-US residency training programs followed by a minimum of three years of verified independent practice in the United States (performing under a full and unrestricted license) performing duties related to the position they are applying for (United States fellowships would be creditable towards this requirement) - which the local Medical Staff Executive Committee deems to have provided the applicant with appropriate professional training and believes has exposed the Physician to an appropriate range of patient care experiencesExceptions: Residents currently enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited residency training programs and who would otherwise meet the basic requirements for appointment are eligible to be appointed as ""Physician Resident Providers"" (PRPs)PRPs must be fully licensed physicians (i.e. - diagnosis - consulting - and ordering diagnostic studiesProvides fact-to-face and Tele-dermatology care/consultationPerforming surgical and non-surgical Dermatology procedures on the skin and to particular skin lesions as appropriate on all ages who have presented with injuries or diseases of the disorders of the integumentary system (skin - mouth - external genitalia - hair - and nails.) Providing consultative series on patients referred from other sections of the Hospital and affiliated outpatient clinicsProviding emergency Dermatology services/coverage as assignedPerforms the administrative components of patient care management - such as: Will be actively involved in teaching residents and students and will periodically direct Noon Conferences for their didactic trainingParticipate in the educational programs for Dermatology and physician personnel as well as the medical staffParticipate in monitoring the quality - safety and appropriateness of patient careDemonstrate ethical conduct and serve as a positive role model to others at all levels of the organizationParticipate in the quality assurance programs and chart reviewsAttend Medicine Service monthly staff meetings and Medical/Dental quarterly staff meetingsComplete medical records in accordance with Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of the Medical StaffParticipate in the Medical Staff committee assignmentsPerform other duties assigned by the Chief of MedicineIn the performance of official duties - the Dermatology Physician will have regular access to printed and electronic files containing sensitive data which must be protected under the provisions of the Privacy Act of 1974 and other applicable laws - federal regulations - VA statues and policy - and VHA policyPhysicians will be responsible for protecting the data from unauthorizes release or from loss and or alteration - or unauthorized deletionMiscellaneous activities of the Medical Service including committee assignments - QA activities - and other special projects that help fulfill and/or enhance the mission of the Department of Veterans Affairs as assigned by the Chief - Dermatology Section - Medical Service or West Palm Beach VAMC Executive LeadershipParticipate in - and attend - CME activities and VA continuing educational activitiesWork Schedule: Monday - Friday - 8:00 a.m- 4:30 p.m.(Note: Work schedules are determined and approved by the supervisorThe incumbent may be required to work various shifts on a permanent or temporary basis based on facility/patient care needs).
