Over 10,000 homeless individuals are cared for by Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program each year. We are committed to ensuring that every one of these individuals has access to comprehensive health care, from preventative dental care to cancer treatment. Our clinicians, case managers, and behavioral health professionals work in more than 30 locations to serve some of our community's most vulnerableand most resilientcitizens. We provide community-based health care services that are compassionate, dignified, and culturally appropriate, incorporating social determinants of health, with the goal of breaking down the physical and systemic barriers that our patients face.Job Summary: Hours: Per Diem; as needed, weekdays and weekends, shifts will vary: 6am-2:30pm, 8:00am-4:30pm, 12:00pm-8:30pm & 7:00am-8:30pm Union: Yes Union Name: 1199SEIU Patient Facing: YesResponsibilitiesClinical Support: Under the direction of the Site Manager, RN Clinic Manager, and/or Charge Nurse, performs a variety of appropriately delegated patient care interventionsCollaborates with the supervising RN throughout the shift to determine appropriate work assignments and priorities, as well as communicating the status of delegated task completion and outcome of patient data findings.Maintains timely ongoing verbal communication in order to assure good patient care and the effective running of the ClinicResponsible for collecting, collating, and entering data and information into the applicable database or format in an accurate and timely manner; maintains appropriate equipment logs and records per standardsAccurately collects requested patient date (e.g. vital signs, weights and reason for visits), notifying the supervising RN of abnormalities; performs basic patient testing, including, but not limited to, tests for guiac, urine dip, and glucose fingerstickTreats patient in a manner that preserves and supports patient confidentiality, patient rights, and patient's dignity; act as a member of the team of care giversCollects, labels, and sends specimens to the lab, with appropriate laboratory slips and/or requisitionsAssists nurse/provider during complex treatments/procedures, including but not limited to, doing preps and set-ups for examinations/treatments, assisting during procedures when requested or requiredCheck inventories on a weekly basis, order clinic supplies and stock them in their appropriate location upon arrival in order to avoid a shortage or misplacement of necessary suppliesClerical Support:Work effectively with BHCHP administrative and clinical staff to obtain information or paperwork necessary for enrolling patients into the appropriate medical or cash benefits programs.Copying, faxing and filing as neededGreet and register all patientsPhone coverage and triage of callsScheduling and recording primary and specialty appointments correctly and in a timely mannerHandle third party billing processQualifications:Successful completion of a Certified Medical Assistant programHigh School Diploma or Equivalent requiredPhlebotomy requiredExperience in a medical setting preferredSecretarial training a plusKnowledge of medical terminology and vital signsComputer skills preferred, including MS Office, MSI, IDX, Logician, EPICAbility to operate basic office equipment (fax, copier)Compensation:The compensation is $22.25 per hour.Does this amazing opportunity interest you?
