Job DescriptionWhat we need: We are seeking energetic, passionate people who enjoy the outdoors and want to play a key role for the position of seasonal (unclassified) Lifeguard within the Division of Parks & Watercraft, headquartered at Indian Lake State Park, assigned to Logan County. The address is 13156 State Route 235 N, Lakeview, Ohio 43331. What you will do Rescue swimmers in distress (e.g., enter water to aid potential drowning victims; use rescue equipment (e.g., rescue tube, rescue board; canoe) to tow/pull swimmer to safety): perform emergency first aid (e.g., administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation; hold compress to bleeding area; cover victim). Guard designated swimming area against drownings & related accidents; advise public of pertinent provisions of Ohio Revised Code & Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Parks & Watercraft Division rules & regulations; request public's compliance with laws, rules & regulations; attend training sessions. Complete incident report forms; inspect safety equipment for any needed repairs; maintain swimming area (e.g., pick up litter, empty trash containers, check restrooms, vending machines, mow grass, paint surfaces); keep supervisor well informed of swimming area maintenance needs (cleaning, chemical adjustments, and repairs). Hourly pay of $20.58/hr. Duration... May 2026 to September 2026 Work hours... These positions are utilized during the division's anticipated busiest season and may include weekends, evenings & rotating shifts. Unusual working conditions... These positions require exposure to weather; exposure to potentially hostile general public; exposure to danger in performing water rescue. Please note... These seasonal positions will remain at step 1 of the pay range. QualificationsAmerican Red Cross lifeguard training certificate or American Red Cross lifeguard training certificate 2, YMCA - National YMCA lifeguard certificate, Boy Scouts Of America - BSA lifeguard certificate or BSA aquatic instructor certificate, Ellis & Associates - national pool & watermark lifeguard training certificate, or nationally recognized equivalent; CPR (i.e., cardio-pulmonary resuscitation) certificate. If required to work longer than four months, the final applicant accepted for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis prior to appointment to test for illegal drug use.
