This is a foundational leadership role reporting to the VP of Finance, and you’ll be instrumental in establishing the institutional rigor that supports our next phase of growth.This role is ideal for someone who thrives in building mode, not just operating within established systems. You'll partner closely with our Senior Director of FP&A and work cross-functionally with leaders across the company to ensure we have the financial infrastructure to scale. If you've taken a company through its first audit or helped build toward IPO-readiness, and you're energized by the prospect of doing it again at a mission-driven company, we'd love to talk.What You’ll DoAct as a strategic thought partner to Finance leadership in building an accounting team to support reporting and compliance needsOwn and continuously improve the month-end and quarter-end close process, driving toward a 5-day closePrepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with US GAAPEstablish and document accounting policies, with particular focus on ASC 606 revenue recognition, expense recognition, stock-based compensation, and other technical areasStay current on accounting standards and assess their impact on our financial reportingServe as the technical accounting expert for complex or non-routine transactionsManage all aspects of general ledger accounting, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysisOversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and treasury functionsPrepare the company for its first external audit, managing auditor relationships and deliverablesDesign and implement internal controls that can scale toward SOX readinessWho You AreCPA with public accounting/audit experience required; Big 4 or nationally recognized firm preferred10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership roleDeep expertise in SaaS revenue recognition (ASC 606) and related technical accountingExperience taking a company through its first external audit or IPO-readiness processTrack record of building accounting processes and teams at high-growth companies (Series B–D experience ideal)Experience implementing or optimizing financial systems (NetSuite, Salesforce, billing platforms)Strong communication skills — able to translate technical accounting to non-finance stakeholdersHands-on leader comfortable building, developing, and scaling a teamBonus PointsPublic company or IPO experienceExperience with international entities and multi-currency accountingFamiliarity with SOX 404 compliance frameworksMore About FieldguideFieldguide is a values-based company.
