By joining our network, you gain access to opportunities tailored to your goals.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, fabricate, and modify precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures from blueprints, sketches, or CAD models.Operate a variety of machine tools including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDM machines to produce components with tight tolerances.Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of existing tooling to ensure optimal production efficiency.Utilize precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and optical comparators to verify dimensions and quality.Collaborate with engineers and production teams to identify tooling needs and implement improvements for manufacturing processes.Adhere to all safety protocols and quality standards while working with machinery and handling materials.Recommended QualificationsCompleted a recognized Tool Maker apprenticeship program or possess equivalent practical experience (e.g., 5+ years).Expertise in operating manual machining equipment, including lathes, mills, surface grinders, and EDMs.Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex engineering blueprints, schematics, and geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T).Skilled in the use of precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and optical comparators.Strong understanding of various tool steels, carbides, and other manufacturing materials, including their properties and heat treatment processes.Demonstrated problem-solving abilities for diagnosing and resolving tooling issues, with meticulous attention to detail.Bonus QualificationsProficiency with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam)Experience with CNC machining setup and operationBasic welding skills (TIG/MIG) for repair and fabricationKnowledge of heat treatment processes for tool steelJob Titles That Should ApplyTool Maker, Tool and Die Maker, Die Maker, Mold Maker, Tooling Technician, Precision Tool Maker, Jig and Fixture Maker, Tooling SpecialistWhy Pivot GroupThe Pivot Group was founded by manufacturing professionals who've been on both sides of the hiring process.
