Electronics Test Systems Engineer
About the Role
As an Electronics Test Systems Engineer, you will drive the design, implementation, and optimization of advanced testing solutions for complex electronic assemblies. You will play a critical role in ensuring product quality and manufacturing efficiency by developing robust test programs and hardware that meet rigorous industry standards.
Responsibilities
Architect and deploy comprehensive test strategies and automated programs to ensure high-quality electronic assembly output.
Design, fabricate, and validate custom test fixtures and hardware to support high-volume PCBA production.
Optimize test equipment performance by performing regular maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
Partner with cross-functional teams to integrate test solutions early in the product lifecycle, ensuring design-for-testability (DFT) compliance.
Analyze production test data and failure modes to identify root causes and implement corrective actions that enhance yield.
Apply Lean manufacturing principles to eliminate process waste and significantly reduce test cycle times.
Provide technical leadership in tester debugging and failure analysis to maximize equipment availability and throughput.
Qualifications
Required Skills
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
3+ years of experience in electronic product development and volume manufacturing environments.
Proficiency in C# or similar programming languages for test automation and fixture control.
Strong ability to interpret complex technical documentation, including schematics and mechanical drawings.
Proven track record in designing and sustaining test fixtures for PCBA and electronic systems.
Solid understanding of ISO 9001 quality standards and Lean methodologies.
Preferred Skills
Hands-on experience with National Instruments platforms, including LabVIEW or TestStand.
Familiarity with ICT, FCT, or JTAG boundary scan methodologies.
Experience with mechanical CAD tools for fixture design and documentation.
Knowledge of AOI or X-ray inspection systems within SMT environments.
Understanding of IPC-A-610 standards and statistical process control (SPC) tools.
Experience with version control systems like Git for software configuration management.
