Staff / Principal Compiler Engineer – AI AcceleratorsLocation: Palo Alto (California)Working Model: HybridA stealth-mode AI hardware company is looking for a senior compiler engineer to help build the software stack for next-generation ML accelerators.The role focuses on low-level compiler development for custom accelerator architectures, covering areas such as graph lowering, IR optimisation, backend code generation, instruction scheduling, memory orchestration, and performance optimisation.They are looking for Compiler engineers with strong experience building production compiler infrastructure for AI/ML hardware environments, particularly around custom accelerators, NPUs, DSPs, or heterogeneous compute platforms.Compiler Engineer experience:MLIR / LLVMCompiler backend developmentCode generation and optimisationTiling, vectorisation, and operator fusionMemory scheduling / scratchpad-style memory systemsC++ and PythonCompiler Engineer nice to have:HW/SW co-design exposureQuantisation or mixed precision flowsONNX / PyTorch compiler pipelinesFPGA or simulator-based performance analysisExperience targeting high-performance accelerator architecturesStrong technical team, greenfield compiler challenges, and significant ownership from day one.
