Kforce has a client that is seeking a Software Developer II - Smart Grid 2.0 in West Palm Beach, FL.Essential Functions & Responsibilities:API Development & Integration (40%):Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices using Go and JavaImplement secure API gateways and data integration patternsCreate comprehensive API documentation and testing frameworksEnsure API scalability, performance, and reliability standardsComponent Integration & Architecture (30%):Stitch together diverse system components including IoT devices, data platforms, and enterprise applicationsDevelop middleware solutions for seamless system interoperabilityImplement event-driven architectures and message queuing systemsSupport secure cloud-native application deployment and managementRapid Prototyping & Innovation (20%):Build quick proof-of-concepts (POCs) to validate technical approachesCollaborate with product teams to translate business requirements into technical solutionsEvaluate emerging technologies and their applicability to smart grid initiativesSupport agile development methodologies and sprint deliverablesCollaboration & Support (10%):Work closely with cross-functional teams including DevOps, QA, and business stakeholdersParticipate in code reviews and technical design discussionsMentor junior developers and contribute to team knowledge sharingSupport production systems and participate in on-call rotations as needed* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical fieldMinimum 3-5 years of software development experienceStrong Java programming background with enterprise application developmentTechnical Skills:Proven experience in RESTful API design and developmentSolid understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systemsExperience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS (EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, RDS)Proficiency with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)Knowledge of database technologies (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or similar)Experience with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD pipelinesFamiliarity with SonarQube (or similar) for reviewing and addressing code quality issues and security vulnerabilitiesUnderstanding of authentication/authorization patterns (OAuth, JWT)Professional Competencies:Demonstrated ability to work effectively in fast-paced, agile environmentsStrong problem-solving skills with attention to detailExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to quickly learn new technologies and adapt to changing requirementsExperience building POCs and technical prototypesPreferred Qualifications:Industry Experience:Experience in utility, energy, or industrial IoT environmentsKnowledge of smart grid technologies, AMI systems, or connected devicesUnderstanding of utility industry standards and protocols (DNP3, Modbus, etc.)Experience with time-series data management and analytics platformsAdvanced Technical Skills:Hands-on Go (Golang) development experienceDemonstrated experience leveraging AI-powered development tools (GitHub Copilot, or similar) to enhance code generation, debugging, and development velocityExperience with event streaming platforms (Apache Kafka, AWS Kinesis)Knowledge of infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
