Project Director - Water Infrastructure

With a single point of responsibility, we break through the complications and provide a clearly better solution that fits each community's unique needs.In this role, you will support project delivery across planning, evaluation, design, permitting, and construction for water and wastewater infrastructure, including treatment plants, pumping stations, and pipelines serving municipal clients. The position requires experience managing and executing projects within the municipal water and wastewater sector, along with the ability to apply consulting expertise to successfully lead project execution and deliver high-quality results.Job ResponsibilitiesSales Assembles and leads proposal response team and develops the proposal strategy and budgetManages and coordinates response efforts for RFQ, RFP, and preparation of proposalsWrites/reviews/edits proposal contentReviews/edits design, scope, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and schedulesEstablishes prices and feesLeads presentation of proposal and prospect follow-upNegotiates contract terms with clientsDelivery Directs preparation of conceptual estimate and periodic revisionsDevelops procurement and delivery strategy and schedulesAuthorizes advance procurement of long-lead items where advantageous, securing client authorization as necessaryLeads design kick-off meetingDirects overall project design and permitting activities, working through A/E Project PrincipalAssures that conceptual estimate is used as a basis for project designLeads client design review meetingsReviews drawings and specifications prior to each issuanceEstablishes a broad, overall strategy for constructionApproves construction project management organization and assignment of key individualsOrients Construction Project Manager when assigned to project objectives, strategies, and client relationshipsDirects preparation of, and approves all schedules including design schedule, master project schedule, construction progress schedule, and periodic schedule revisionsMakes key decisions affecting schedule, consulting with clients as appropriateDirects preparation of and approves detailed cost estimatesAssists in the resolution of discrepancies or conflicts between conceptual and detailed estimatesParticipates in the construction kick-off meetingReview project status, budget, and schedule with the Construction Project Manager on a regular basisParticipates in client changes and negotiations as neededReviews Summary Cost ReportsVisits the project site periodicallySolicits client feedbackPost Delivery Leads team feedback and lessons learned sessionsDevelops post-completion client follow-up strategy, including major warranty/rectification items and pursuit of repeat business opportunitiesEducation & Years of ExperienceBachelor's Degree in either Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or relatedMinimum of 10 years of experience in municipal water and wastewater engineering and consultingProfessional Engineer (PE) license highly preferredTo thrive in this role, you'll need:Demonstrated experience across engineering and construction within the municipal water & wastewater sectorStrong leadership and management capabilities, effectively guiding teams and driving project successApplies sound business acumen and organizational skills to manage priorities, resources, and project deliverablesBuilds and maintains strong interpersonal relationships with clients, stakeholders, and internal teamsLeads client presentations and supports business development efforts through effective sales and communication skillsCommunicates clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, across all levels of the organizationNegotiates contracts, scope, and project changes to achieve favorable outcomes while maintaining client satisfactionDevelops accurate project estimates and pricing strategies to support profitability and competitivenessManages and maintains project schedules, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with project goalsBenefitsAt Haskell, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, professional development opportunities, and more.
