HSE Manager

Job Summary:The HSE Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and leading all health, safety, and environmental programs, policies, practices, and procedures for manufacturing and distribution operations. This role is responsible for creating and maintaining a culture of proactive safety excellence and environmental stewardship.Essential Duties/Responsibilities:Serve as the HSE leader for operations, promoting a proactive safety culture.Develop and implement procedures and strategies to ensure a safe work environment compliant with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices.Observe the parameters of collective bargaining agreements where applicable.Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and hazard analyses to identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.Design and deliver training programs for employees, visitors, and contractors regarding safety protocols and emergency procedures.Manage the forklift certification program, ensuring all operators of forklifts and material handling equipment maintain current training and certifications.Lead investigations into incidents, accidents, and near misses, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) programs to ensure chemical documentation is properly cataloged and accessible in accordance with applicable regulations.Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to health, safety, and environmental performance.Analyze HSE data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and track key performance indicators.Lead the company safety committee.Develop and maintain emergency response plans for facility locations and conduct required drills.Ensure completion of all required HSE recordkeeping, reporting, and posting requirements, including OSHA documentation.Partner with insurance carriers in the management of workers’ compensation cases.Collaborate with regulatory agencies, industry associations, and community stakeholders to support safety and environmental initiatives.Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.Required Skills/Abilities:Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices within manufacturing and distribution environments.Ability to lead cross-functional teams, drive change, and implement effective HSE programs.Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all organizational levels.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Strong project and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.Education and Experience:Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.Minimum of 5 years of experience in a health, safety, and environmental leadership role within a manufacturing environment required.
