Senior Mechanic

Job DescriptionThis position works primarily in the mechanic shop with some time spent on outside projects. This person is well-versed on all mechanical trades, including gas and diesel motors, Hydraulics and Automotive Electrical functions. This position can trouble shoot issues and diagnose problems. The Senior Mechanic will be able to plan and make repairs by ordering parts and using their time to the company's best advantage. The Senior Mechanic will be efficient in making repairs and utilize Junior Mechanics as assistants and provide advice and training to employees. There is some customer and vendor interaction in the position. Full-time work hours are Monday through Friday 8 am- 5pm.Primary Functions -Operate machinery of all types and size consistent with OEM safety recommendations when properly trained.Diagnose and repair items in the following categories: engine, transmission, hydraulic, electrical and mechanical.Perform all work in a safe manner.Provide advice and direction to Junior Mechanic prior to and during repairs.Provide for the safety of visitors and employees alike.Order parts and maintain a professional relationship with vendors.Efficiently plan repairs and works closely with Management to provide effective timelines for repairs.Organize and clean shop areas daily.Control Company tools and maintain organization of tools.Page 2 - Job Description - Senior MechanicSecondary Functions -Assisting in other departments when necessary.Perform Auction- day functions.Assist in other departments when necessary.Be flexible. In this position you will be pulled to trouble-shoot and repair priority issues.RequirementsPhysical Requirements -This is position works primarily in the mechanic shop, however at times you will work outside in all-weather environments.You must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.You will work on various heightsYou will get dirty. Showers are provided in the shop restroom.Long durations of walking, standing, stooping, squatting are expected.Some bending, stooping, crouching, crawling is necessary as part of this position.
