CNC Setup/Operator - Ames, IA

As a CNC Setup/Operator with TSI, you will primarily set up and operate CNC lathes, with occasional work on CNC vertical mills. Job Duties: • Set up and operate CNC lathes for production runs (80-95% of time) • Perform occasional setup and operation of CNC vertical mills • Read and interpret blueprints, setup sheets, and work instructions • Make minor program edits at the machine control as needed • Set tool offsets and adjust tooling for optimal performance • Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet print specifications and tolerances • Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges • Troubleshoot machining or quality issues and make necessary adjustments • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area Job Requirements: • High school diploma or GED preferred • 2+ years of CNC machining or machine operating experience in a manufacturing environment preferred • Strong experience with CNC lathes required; vertical mill experience a plus • Ability to read blueprints and inspect parts to print specifications • Familiarity with machine controls and making minor program edits • Understanding of tool offsets, tooling setup, and machining processes • Ability to work independently and manage production efficiently • Ability to stand, move, and lift throughout the workday TSI is eager to welcome a dependable, skilled machinist to the team.
